I worked on my next chapter, while knowing my first five chapters do need help. And the CPs, bless them, got back to me. And argh.... so much story work to do. Good news, my voice is there as a writer (yay!) and the writing is solid. BUT the s/l is iffy... and I know it. I just LOVE my characters.
And to think I used to get yucky comments in contests from judges for being too plot driven. Why is it when we fix one thing, another leak occurs?
Goals for tomorrow:
*reflect and brainstorm my S/L for the GH (TG it is the second entry and first one off to the RWA offices). *Read a craft book and answer some story ques. *Talk to CP in Fairfax about my S/L and do more brainstorming *force my brain to wrap itself around this revision, and not give up on my characters cause I so totally LOVE them *allow the universe to open up and give me a subconscious direction while I iron (seriously)
Okay, Christine. It's a sinus day here in dreary land, so for the life of me I can't translate s/l. I will probably kick myself once you tell me, but it's driving me even more insane than I already am.
Your goals are excellent, and your progress phenomenal. Time for this old gal to take a pill and get cracking.
Hi Gwynlyn--s/l is my short form version of STORY LINE. I'm plowing through my heroes and heroines book, making some TOUGH decisions about the story line and how to fix it. I can't write another word in the MS till I sort out the direction I need to go with the story.
Ah, very good. Not feeling stupid. Thank heaven. Good luck with sorting it all out.
I tossed the original prologue, but am having a horrible time getting the beginning down without it. Once I'm started, I'll roll like a semi on a 40 degree hill, but it just takes so long to get rolling!

Feel better!
