Gwynlyn: Today I spent about four hours analyzing my hero/heroine via THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO HEROES AND HEROINES. I brainstormed A LOT. I have gobs and gobs of ideas and a new direction for my story. My CP and I just spent an hour on the phone hammering out my inciting incident and my issues with the story line.
I'm running to STAPLES to get poster board to map out my character arcs. And I'm readying myself for turning point analysis which will begin tomorrow.
Would that I could claim the same, but I got several thousand words done today. Beginnings are tough for me, as I've said, and trashing the prologue set me adrift. HOWEVER, I have a great opening hook now, and it's starting to flow. Good thing. Still have over 90K to go, and time's a-wastin'!

Good for you--I am so glad you got your hook! I have to go for that soon--I am trashing much of my first two chapters so I feel your pain.
At least we only have to make the first 50 pages shine--for now. The rest can be polished after we send in the garbled mess.
