5 November Progress, Goals, and Status

Not much progress today. Forgot I had to blog over at Nobody Writes It Better. Had it written and posted in under three hours even fighting with putting in the pictures.

Laurie called about the two chapters I gave her. Good news across the board, thank heaven, since I haven't much time to play with it.

Well into chapter three, but the word count has me behind. Still, best to spend time on the "show" chapters. Can write like mad and not worry about the finer points to finish. Besides, that's what January and February are for---serious editing.

Sounds like you are going great guns! I just printed out the story's first 69 pages and will read through them today. I have a pretty good idea about where the story is headed now, and I'm trying not to stress about the deadline. It is what it is. I had to slash a lot of words, but if I have to, I can add some back in to make the count high enough on the back end.

I'll be editing like mad after I send in the entry LOL. Still need a working synopsis, but want to get the first fifty sorted out first.

Goals are to read my pages and edit, layer in more words and work on first paragraph to strengthen the hook.

You would be surprised how many of the Rubies are rooting for us, Christine. We have a cheering section! Unlike the Phillies, we won't let our fans down, though.

Don't stress about the deadline. Neither of us can do anything about it. Keep focused on the things you can control and all will be well.

Wow, that is so cool about the Rubies! I am feeling okay with what I accomplished today. I read through the 69 pages I printed out and made a ton of notes--mega switcherooing to do with the opening chapters to lay the new foundation of my story. There are lots of "move to A/B/C etcs" now.

It's like weeding through major pencil edit blood, but I managed to redo the first 5 pages and start on the next scene before my DD got home. I took a LONG time on the opening hook, but it's much better and tighter than the original. I keep telling myself that it's editor time and that means rehashing stuff again and again to get it right. And that's only the beginning.

Sometimes it flows. Other times, not. But I'm not going to stress about it. I do have until the 28th if necessary... it'll mean major costs in postage, but just giving myself that out does help LOL.

I had to stop and be mom/cook/wife/dance watcher tonight, but I felt good. I worked for a solid 6 hours today.

Woohoo!
