6 November Progress, Status & Goals

Didn't get as much done as I would have liked. I took out a chicken, some sausage, and a chuck roast to thaw and forgot them. They thawed in the sink all night, so I had to cook them today. Not a lot of writing, but 12 quarts of Veggie Beef and Barley soup, one roasted chicken (that will make several meals before it, too, goes into the soup pot since the last batch of chicken soup is nigh gone), and sausage in tomato sauce (cheated a bit; used canned tomatos) so my dh had Ravioli and Sausage for dinner and is set for the next few days while I dwell in my office.

This would be so much easier if he could do for himself, but the inability to bend at the waist or pick up more than 5 lbs puts the kibosh on that! Still, when the going gets tough, the tough get going, and we're tough!

Oh dear! I hope you get a lot done today. But having the food thing taken care of is good. I've been doubling recipes and freezing stuff in so I can pull it out and have something nutritious on the table.

My DH is getting a hip replacement in Feb/10 and I know I'll need an ALPHASMART to survive. He'll be at home for at least a month. Much as I love the dear man, I'm not sure we'll survive the close encounters.

Going to hit the chair hard today. We'll see how it goes--I'd like to hammer out all my changes, so that's my goal.

CP liked my revised first scene--good cause that took about 2 hours to hammer out (or more).

Good luck writing!!

My dh bought me an AlphaSmart Dana for Christmas last year. I can't use it. I use an ergonomic keyboard, and the Alpha drives me crazy, so I carry my Notebook computer and hook my keyboard into it. So, if you're looking for a top of the line Alpha, let me know.

I hear you on hubby's surgery. Mine has had four and may be looking at another come 2010. He's been out of work sinc March and taking care of him and everything else has really distroyed my writing time. It's not that he's demanding---if anything, he tries too hard not to be, which is annoying in itself---but that extra pair of hands is missed.

My son and dil are dropping off their pups today. Impromptu, but I can't say no. They took care of things here when I went to NJRW, stopping at least twice a day to take care of the animals and make sure dh was fine. Then my sweet dil vacuumed and straightened up before I came home. Pleasant surprise that.

They don't ask much, bless them, and are there if I need them. So, the timing isn't great, but so be it. The idiot that said being a parent lasts only 18 years obviously didn't have children.

Sounds like you are on a roll! You go, girlfriend. We're going to take this baby all the way HOME!

Ooh, I am interested in your alphasmart. Most people only use it as a first draft tool. I have a Macbook (spoiled me), but I live in fear of losing it while out in public. Does your Alpha hook into a Mac?

I had amazing plans to hit the chair hard when my Darling Daughter bumped her toe hard and off to the doc we went. Broken toe. Fourth year in a row she's had a break. Never a major one, but I must admit, I wasn't a sweet mommy when I got the call. I was like, honey, when will you stop tripping over your feet? Sweet girl took it in stride.

I sent the DH and DD off to the local football game, her HS is in the playoffs and I finished up my first run through. 37 workable pages. I pulled over some more from the full MS and will edit and manage them. Then the silk polishing with sand begins. I have no idea how many words I cut or what is left, but I am enjoying the story.

Back in action.

You will get the job done! Wouldn't it be super if we both finaled (one can dream!!) and we got to start and be part of a new sisterhood?

If you go to Nationals, I will have to meet you for sure!!

You daughter sounds like my son. I kept telling my dh the hospital was going to start chargine us rent on the cubicle!

It would be fabulous if ANY of the three of us finaled, I must say. Wouldn't that put a bee in a few bonnets? Heehee.

Don't know if I'll make it to Nashville. Although I can drive there (long drive, but I've a cousin in TN so know it's doable,) a lot will depend on $$ and dh's back. However, that bridge will be there when the time comes. God willing, it will be navigable.

Sounds like you're cooking with gas, doll. Keep it up. You help keep me going.

I'm glad I'm not the only mom who calls her doctor's office with "I need to get the first xray" and they receptionist knows me by name!

Seriously. Crazy.

I'd love it if you came to Nville. I am in Madison, AL. So I'll be there. If you final!!! I will cheer you on!!

Sigh. So much to do on this second entry. But I am bound and determined to tell their story whether I final or not. I believe in my characters.
